Tests carried out with contaminated drinking water, by C-Mark Water consultants and Water laboratory of Vitens Water supply company in the Netherlands, concluded:

• Plation floats effectively eliminate long-lasting E-coli bacteria to a level of <1 cfu/100ml as required by Dutch Drinking Water regulations and WHO Guidelines
  
• Plation floats provide long-lasting preservation of stored drinking water.

Tests carried out with rooftop-harvested rainwater and with public drinking water, by C-Mark Water Consultants and Water Laboratory of Vitens Water supply company in the Netherlands, concluded:

• For rainwater Plation PIF filters effectively eliminate, in short contact time, E-coli bacteria to a level of<1 cfu/100ml and reduce the total colony count.
  
  
• Tests with Legionella contaminated drinking water proved there is no growth of Legionella and with longer contact time there may be moderate reduction

Water tanks and systems vary in size, type, age and condition and may, over time, build up biofilm surface coatings.
